Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Marvel Future Fight’, ‘Rise of Kingdoms’, ‘Pocket City’, ‘True Skate’, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. It’s a nice mix of popular free-to-play games and some cool paid titles this time around, so hopefully everyone can find at least one game in the mix that they enjoy. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

Terraria, $4.99 Well, you know how it goes. You fix one thing and three more things break. Terraria had a very big update recently that actually kind of replaced the game that existed before. Not a bad thing, on the whole. This update just makes a few little tweaks to that based on player feedback. There are now options for left stick jumping, including the ability to disable it altogether. You can enable autoswing for all weapons and tools, too. Besides that, it seems to mostly be bug fixes. Still, a positive update all-around.

MARVEL Future Fight, Free The Phoenix Five have arrived in Marvel Future Fight, bringing new characters and uniforms to the game. Three new X-Men join the roster: Kitty Pryde, Rachel Summers, and Kid Omega. Yeah, that jerk. There are also some new Phoenix Five-themed uniforms available for Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Colossus. The last new addition in this update is a new real-time three-on-three battle in the Danger Room where you have to beat the boss before your opponent does. We’ve also got a new Tier-3 advancement, and it’s fittingly for Cyclops. I’m feeling a bit tired today so I’m going to give this the coveted UMMSotW award and call it a day.

Knives Out, Free Season 7 is officially underway in Knives Out, bringing new battles and goodies to the game. New pass quests are available, allowing you to level up your passes more quickly. Some new season quests have also been added, which may help you upgrade your existing pass to earn more stuff. Speaking of, a new season means new rewards, outfits, and other prizes to claim. A new marking system has been implemented that allows you to mark a spot on the map and show it to your team, as well. Not bad for a game that seemed like it was going to get stomped by its own sister title from the same company.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Free Well, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp certainly isn’t dead yet, and that’s better than I had expected back at launch. But it has definitely settled into a groove where it’s not making a ton of exciting changes in its updates anymore. As such, here’s what you can look forward to in the new version. Some adjustments have been made to Gulliver’s Ship, new normal classes have been added to the Happy Homeroom, and the Market Box feature has gotten some small improvements. A tweak or two to the UI and a few bug fixes, and that’s about the lot of it. I expect this will probably be how things go until the new console game hits at the very least.

Pocket City, $2.99 Friends, please do not try to fit an entire city in your pocket. A camp is ridiculous enough, but an entire city is going to tear it and your boss will ask you why your pants are torn and the only thing you can say is that you tried to fit a city in there and whoops, that’s what happens I guess. How careless! Oh, I’ve been handed a paper. Ah, the city is actually just a digital city and can be encoded in zeros and ones which are themselves digital and therefore take up little space. Well then. Right, the update. You can now buy multiple land properties at once and buildings can now be moved for 50% of the purchase cost. Also, floods are now available. Have fun!

Toon Blast, Free Toon Blast has an update and it includes the usual fifty new levels. Yes, there’s that many now. How many? So many. And we’ve also got a description to go with it which will not really be referenced in the game but is really just there to keep people like me from going completely mad. This time around, it has something to do with hockey. I guess because the hockey season starts this month. To be very fair to the folks behind Toon Blast, it is in fact the best game you can name, and the best game you can name is the good old hockey game.

True Skate, $1.99 The stalwart defender of justice that protects us from the vile machinations of its arch-nemesis Fake Skate, True Skate is ready to roll with a new update. And when this game gets a new update, you can be fairly sure that means there will be a new course to play around with. This time, it’s even more the case than usual. The SLS 2018 World Championship course has been added to the game, and for the first time ever with an SLS course in True Skate, you can edit it. Neato. There are also a couple of bug fixes regarding audio and replay crashes, so if you were having problems with those things, it’s your lucky week.

Star Warsâ„¢: Galaxy of Heroes, Free Largely comfortable with where your main team is at in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes? Ha ha, not anymore you aren’t. Introducing Relic Amplifiers, unique weapons and icons that make your characters even more powerful. They give stat boosts that beef up your units big-time and yes, that means you are probably going to need them to keep up. In terms of other additions, the Scavenger allows you to use your existing gear to create new gear so that all the extra junk you have laying around can be used. There are also some new frames and some performance improvements.

Gardenscapes, Free It’s looking less and less likely that my man Austin will make into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but you know what? He doesn’t need that game. He’s got two hit games of his own, along with some delightful neighbors and friends. This update lays the foundations for some late-September events. The Big Race sees you charging up an electric scooter to race around the garden, while an old kitchen waits for renovations and someone to make a pie in it. The Golden Cup competition has been added, allowing those who have finished all the stages to battle it out. All this, and bunnies! What more could you want? A game less reliant on pure luck and more on skill and tactics? Ha ha, you card.

Rise of Kingdoms, Free Frankly, the person who notified me about this update was so genuinely enthusiastic about it that I couldn’t possibly avoid including it. If ever there were a person who loves Rise of Kingdoms, it is that one. So what’s new? Holy smokes, a lot. The anniversary celebration has a ton of stuff going on from events to free goodies and more. The equipment system has seen some optimizations based on player feedback, and a whole lot of other bits and bobs have been rebalanced to make the game work better. Finally, a new VIP level has been added, providing stronger buffs and other benefits. Kingdoms rise up.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
