It was running a bit behind this week’s other new releases so we weren’t able to include it in our weekly round-up, but I didn’t want the release of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes ($9.99) to pass anybody by, so consider this your official PSA: Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is now available on iOS and Android! Perhaps you know if from previous platforms or perhaps you have been following our coverage of the upcoming mobile launch, but it’s possible you don’t know it at all so let me explain. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a local multiplayer party game where one person acts as the “Defuser" and must disarm a bomb that’s displayed on their mobile device and is comprised of multiple components like keypads or wires that are linked to the defusing. The problem is the Defuser doesn’t know what to do with each component, so they’ll need to rely on the “Experts" who have access to a bomb manual to explain the process of defusing the bomb. Except the Experts can’t actually see the bomb, and the Defuser can’t actually see the instructions, so communication is key and everybody needs to, well, keep talking and nobody explodes.
Games inevitably break down into frantic shouting matches as the clock ticks down and the Defuser is desperately trying to perform the necessary actions to get out of the explosive situation. One of the coolest aspects about Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is that you only need one copy of the game to play with two or more people, so it’s really easy to bust out on a whim during any sort of social gathering and be laughing and shouting in no time. The Experts can access the bomb manual just by visiting http://www.bombmanual.com so, while it’s nice to have a hard copy to flip through like in the movies, you can also simply access the same information in the browser on your smartphone or tablet, which basically everyone has anyway. So there’s really nothing stopping games from busting out whenever. Also the bomb and its components are randomized each time you play, and there must be like a bajillion combinations, so the replayability is through the roof. So become known as “the fun one" amongst your group of friends by busting out Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes on your smartphone or tablet next time you’re hanging with some pals, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll have a hilarious time.
