As someone who is always on the hunt for new platforming games, my ears perked up when I first heard about Spoorky from developer GuGames. Not only do you get to play as a pig, the world’s most delicious animal, but Spoorky is entirely cross-platform between desktop, iOS and Android. Basically players will be able to create their own levels and then publish them online for others to play on every platform. But that’s just the beginning. Once your level is out in the world other players will try to top your own completion time, and if they’re able to dethrone you they’ll earn special points. If you’re able to take the top spot back from them, then you’ll earn some points. This all plays into the leaderboard system as well as weekly tournaments that sees players trying to become the champion of as many created levels as possible. Check out what Spoorky looks like in action.
With its focus on level creation through its in-game level editor and how the game is built around community involvement, Spoorky sounds a lot like the upcoming Levelhead from Butterscotch Shenanigans, which isn’t a bad thing at all. I also really like how the game stores everything in the cloud, meaning not only does your progress transfer between platforms but having all versions work together means that there’s a good chance for the player pool to be of decent size, which is pretty crucial in a game like this that focuses so much on player-created content. You’ll also be able to subscribe to creators, build up followers of your own, and share levels that you especially like with those followers. If you like platforming games, creating your own levels, and online competition you’ll want to check out Spoorky when it hits next month on November 8th.
