Physics-Based Fighter ‘Gladihoppers’ Gets New Trailer and a Desktop Demo

You may remember that back in January we posted a whole bunch of animated gifs of an upcoming game called Gladihoppers from developer Dreamon Studios, and as a self-proclaimed fan of wacky physics-based combat games, I was pretty stoked with how the game was shaping up. As you might have guessed based on the game’s name, Gladihoppers is a gladiator battling game where you… err, HOP your way around an arena hacking and slashing at your opponent hoping to come out with more limbs still attached than the other guy. While those gifs looked great Dreamon has been working on the game in the months since, and last week released a new trailer showing a Gladihoppers battle in action.

Along with the new video comes an update on the progress of the game. Dreamon has been hammering away at the Career Mode, which was originally intended to be a simple arcade-style mode where you could hop in (pun intended) and battle some opponents without much fuss. Well, the Career Mode has since ballooned up into a full single-player campaign with a progression system and more, so now that simpler mode will be known as Quick Fight Mode. Not only that, but there will also be a more traditional Arcade Mode too. If you’re just dying to get your hands on Gladihoppers, and you’re on a Windows machine, you can download the desktop demo from itch.io right now and get a taste of the game. Otherwise look for Gladihoppers on Mac, iOS, and Android in addition to Windows hopefully sometime this year, and follow along with the forum discussion to stay up with all the latest news.
