Gamers of a certain age will no doubt remember R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series of horror novels for young adults, and now the creators of the mega-successful The Sandbox mobile games Pixowl are bringing Goosebumps to your mobile device in the form of Goosebumps HorrorTown. It’s a blend of city-building and monster collecting as you’ll be able to take on dual roles in the game, as explained by Pixowl: “Players take on dual roles: gathering a scary assortment of sinister creatures to terrify townsfolk and playing as humans to defend against the monsters by investigating monster activity and exploring the map to unlock new areas and adventures. As monsters, players can scare humans to obtain materials and add new creatures, while as humans they can gather resources, craft items, and spy on the monsters." Check out the trailer.
While I probably never would have imagined a Goosebumps game as a city builder, I actually really like the idea of being able to play both sides in Goosebumps HorrorTown. There’s no shortage of classic Goosebumps monsters to collect in the game, and using them to scare townsfolk sounds like a lot of fun. If you’re interested you can currently pre-order Goosebumps HorrorTown by clicking this link on an iOS 11 device, and Pixowl is also running a monster creation contest on their Facebook page which will allow you to create your very own monster that could possibly be put in the actual game as voted on by players. Otherwise look forward to this one launching at the end of the month on May 30th.
