For as huge as the mobile scene is, the esports ecosystem surrounding it still feels like its in its infancy. In the PC/console world, it seems like everything is an esport and the events surrounding the esports ecosystem are growing at an amazing pace. Amazon is spending some of those Bezos Billions to try to solve this problem via their “Mobile Masters" series. This year the Mobile Masters event will be held from June 23rd to the 24th in Seattle, WA at Amazon’s fancy new streaming studio.
The games seem to be a strange mix, including Power Rangers: Legacy Wars (Free), Survival Arena (Free), World of Tanks Blitz (Free), and Critical Ops (Free). The competition is powered by Amazon’s GameOn technology, which is a new API that allows developers to facilitate these sorts of competition. I’m really excited to see how this pans out, since as someone who loves mobile I think we really need events and initiatives like these to take the platform to the next level. If you’re interested in getting involved in the competition, keep your eye on the site for the schedule for the various open qualifiers.
