Last month we posted about an upcoming game from indie developer Bony Yousuf called Almost There, a platformer that is looking to be entirely playable with just one finger but without having auto-running or by dumbing down the experience in any way. In fact, it’s pretty much the opposite of dumbed down as Almost There is a hardcore precision platformer in a similar vein to something like Geometry Dash ($2.99). You can see just how chaotic the platforming and hazard-dodging is in this trailer for Almost There.
It’s really pretty remarkable all the actions Yousuf is able to cram into basically a single joystick. If you’ve played games like Fish & Trip (Free) or Man vs. Missiles (Free) you’ll know there’s a nice fluidity of movement when controlling things with just your thumb, almost like it’s plugged directly into the game. I see a similar thing on display in Almost There. If you’re one of those masochists who love extremely challenging platforming games, then you’ll be happy to know that Almost There is set for release on May 9th, and if you click on this link on an iOS 11 device you’ll be taken to the App Store where you can pre-order the game if that’s your thing. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this one turned out when it hits in a couple of weeks.
