Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I hope you’re all enjoying your holiday weekend, unless you happen to be in a country where it’s not a holiday, in which case… welcome to the week. I’m trying to take it a little easy this week, but I still found some good stuff for you to look at over your morning chocolate eggs. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!
Princess And Knight, $4.99 Enjoyable throwback TRPG Princess and Knight got a huge update this week. First of all, the game’s compatibility with newer iOS versions and hardware has been fixed up. The visuals have seen some major changes, with all-new artwork replacing the old stuff. There are some new items, new equipment enhancement options, and a new battlefield buff system. The developers also threw in a new bonus image for those who are able to clear the game on hard mode. Nice to see this one hasn’t been left behind!
Typeshift, Free As is usually the case with updates to Typeshift, this latest one adds in some new puzzles. This time, there’s one new clue puzzle pack, three new standard puzzle packs, and a new bundle. These are all available via IAP in the usual section. This update also adjusts some animations and fixes some layout issues on iPhone X devices. Remember: the best way to ignore annoying family members at mandatory get-togethers is to play puzzle games on your mobile. The life you save just might be your own.
Sky Force Reloaded, Free This is the first update to Sky Force Reloaded in quite a while, with the previous one serving as a compatibility update around six months ago. Well, you didn’t wait for nothing, friends. This new version includes a brand new level, level B3, for you to bang your head against. This is the first new content for the game in over a year. Who knows when the next stuff may arrive, if at all? What I’m saying here is to savor the delicious flavor of this new level. It may have to last you a bit.
CSR 2 - Realistic Drag Racing, Free Hey, it’s update time for CSR Racing 2, and you know what that means? New car smell! Virtual new car smell, but we take what we get around here. But chin up, friends. The new cars in question come from the hit Fast & Furious franchise. First up, there’s Suki’s Veilside Honda S2000 from 2 Fast 2 Furious. It’s pink and it’s powerful. The other new car also comes by way of 2 Fast 2 Furious. It’s the steel blue C-West Nissan Skyline GT-R that did that wild jump across the drawbridge. Apparently this is just the start of the Fast & Furious franchise dipping into CSR Racing 2, so stay… 2ned? Sorry, I’m very bad with this stuff.
Pokémon GO, Free Pokemon GO may not be the phenomenon it once was, but it’s still extremely popular. For regular players who play every day, however, the risk of exhaustion is very real. This new update should help out, at least. There are new objectives to complete and new rewards to earn by way of the Field Research and Special Research features that were added. How good are those rewards? Well, if you want to catch Mew, you’d best get cracking on that Special Research, I can tell you that much.
Life Is Strange, Free So true, title of this game, so very true. Life is Strange is an episodic series that was ported over to mobile from other platforms late last year. For reasons I can’t fathom, not all of the episodes were available at launch. But they are now. So that’s a good thing. You can now pick up Episode 4 and Episode 5 to finish the story, or just download them if you already bought the full pass I suppose. This update also adds a new photo mode for you to play with, and fixes a bunch of pesky bugs.
Order & Chaos 2-Fantasy MMORPG, Free It looks like Gameloft decided to do a pretty big overhaul on their signature mobile MMO. They’ve reworked how character progression works early on, added a clear guidebook to help players get on track, put in a new level called World Adventure that seems to be based on how much of the map you’ve explored, and holy smokes, the game now has unlimited vigor. There’s a new Challenge Rush level and some new gear to go with it, too. You can also now queue for raids across servers, which may be a sign that the population isn’t as healthy as it once was. Well, at least they don’t have their heads in the sand about things. If nothing else, this is probably the best time to give it a try. Unlimited vigor. Honestly should have been that way from the start, if you ask me. Which you didn’t, so yeah.
Subdivision Infinity, $4.99 Whoa, this was unexpected. I mean, at least to me, anyway. The new Daar Colony expansion for Subdivision Infinity adds new missions, ships, weapons, and more. Included in the new line-up of spacecraft is the most powerful fighter ship in the game, the Avalon V. Wait, is this expansion free? Crescent Moon, you nutty loons, what are you doing? For your courageous efforts, I’m going to compensate you with this week’s coveted UMMSotW award in lieu of cash. Awesome extra content for a very cool game. Well done!
Shooty Skies, Free I’ve gone a little easy on the Easter update stuff this time around because, well, I’m trying to enjoy Easter. But here’s one for you: the Easter Eggsellence update for Shooty Skies. It includes six new pilots, two of whom are secrets, some quality of life adjustments, and the usual bug fixes. The new characters include Cross Buns, Carob Bunny, Eostre, and more. Who are these folks? You’ll have to play to find out. You can do it. It’s okay. Believe in the Easter Eggsellence.
Real Racing 3, Free New cars, as you would expect from a racing game update. They’re probably a bit hard to get, as you would expect from a free-to-play racing game update. Anyway, the new additions include the 1984 Ferrari Testarossa, the 2016 Ferrari J50, the 2013 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, and the 2004 Ferrari F430. Wow, that’s a lot of really nice cars I’ll never actually drive! Oh wait, there’s one more. It’s the 2017 Ferrari 812 Superfast. Nifty. Real Racing TV has some new episodes, more Flashback Events are back, and some other stuff. But really, it’s all about those Ferraris. Good luck!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
