Guild of Dungeoneering ($5.99) is one of those games whose appeal is hard to explain in words. It’s kind of a card game, a little bit of a roguelite, and a healthy dose of dungeon building. Although it wasn’t born on mobile, it’s a natural fit for the platform. It’s also been well-supported by its developer, receiving two large expansions in the one year and change since it released on mobile. During that time, its price didn’t just stay at the same level it launched at, it actually increased with each update. Well, I don’t know what the occasion is, but you can get the game right now at a discount for the first time ever.
Normally selling for $6.99, the game is currently on sale for less than half that price. At $2.99, it’s even cheaper than its launch price, and you still get both expansions at no additional cost. It’s a great value for a great game. The villainous Carter Dotson even saw fit to grant it a rare “more than 3.5 stars" when he reviewed the game at launch. I’d recommend checking out his review to get the ins and outs of how the game works, but basically you need to place dungeon pieces down to guide the heroes to their goal. The heroes have minds of their own, so it can be a little tricky to get them to do what you want, particularly if the RNG gods don’t smile down on you with the right pieces. It’s a very unusual game, but a lot of fun when it isn’t aggravating you.
At the time of writing, it’s not clear why Guild of Dungeoneering is on sale, so I can’t say with any certainty how long it will remain at this price. I do know that the developer wasn’t big on the idea of cutting the price at one point, so this might be a very rare chance indeed. You know what that means, friends: dig through those couch cushions for change, clear some space on your device, and get to the dungeoneering as soon as possible!
