I guess it’s a mobile fighting game kind of day, as not only did we post about the Skullgirls soft launch but another similar game has now exited its own soft launch period and is now available worldwide. That game is Kabam’s Transformers: Forged to Fight (Free), and if you’ve played their previous Marvel: Contest of Champions (Free) then you should have a pretty good idea of what you’re in store for. Not that this is just a straight reskin mind you, as Forged to Fight actually has a few significant tweaks to the formula that worked so well in Contest of Champions. The most major changes include the ability to launch projectile weapons, a staple of fighting games for decades, as well as the ability to sidestep your opponent’s attacks, essentially adding a third dimensional element to the mostly two diminsional side-view fighting.
As with all of these streamlined mobile fighting games, there’s all the normal free to play stuff to contend with in Transformers: Forged to Fight. An energy system, a gacha-style character unlock system, plenty of weird currencies to collect in order to upgrade your roster of fighters, and more. The core fighting mechanics are super solid though, which makes the endless grinding a lot of fun and fits well for mobile play. I played Injustice for over two years and Contest of Champions for more than a year, and while eventually the grind got the best of me, I did enjoy all that time spent playing. So if you’re into these mobile fighters and enjoy transforming robots, give Transformers: Forged to Fight a download and head on over to the forums to discuss it.
