Capcom is about to do older gamers a huge one by bringing some really classic games to mobile in the next few months. The games are 1942 Mobile, Ghosts ‘N Goblins Mobile, Ghouls ‘N Ghosts Mobile, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando Mobile. Talk about game titles that take me back decades. The ports will stay true to the original games but also offer the option to switch to more touch-screen friendly modes. And while the games will come with Classic and Casual modes, several of them will offer options such as auto-fire and button customization. The games will also include leaderboards, which is appropriate.
If you aren’t familiar with one or all of the games, well, it means you’re pretty young. 1942 is a vertical shoot ’em up that has you destroying a whole fleet while doing rolls and loops to avoid incoming fire. Ghosts ‘N Goblins – one of my all-time favorites – is an action-platformer that has you battling demons and the undead, often in your underwear, and Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is the sequel to Ghosts ‘N Goblins. Finally, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando is a vertical scrolling shooter where you use your sub-machine gun and grenades to blast through everything in sight. All four are classic games that I think will translate well to mobile. The games will be coming in the next few months, and I can’t wait.
