Things have been quiet on the Minecraft: Pocket Edition ($6.99) front after the huge update a few months back, and no hints are coming out of Mojang and Microsoft on what the future holds for this great game. We did get a patch today, though, but no new mechanics or features were added; instead, what we did get is another texture pack, and this one is pretty sweet. The Candy Texture Pack pours some sugar on the game, turning mobs into Jelly Creepers, Starlight Mint Skeletons, Velvet Cake Cows, and more. As you can see from the screenshot below, the game looks fun and colorful with this new texture pack.
The question now is what’s coming to the game next. We know that the developers want feature parity between the various Minecraft versions, so I wonder what we might be getting next. I’m not sure we can get the improved combat to work well on a touchscreen, but the team has surprised me so far. What features do you want to see next?
