There’s just something so satisfying about the pull-back-then-let-go slingshotting mechanic on a touchscreen. I mean, Angry Birds anyone? It’s hard to put my finger on exactly why, but coming in at the perfect angle and pulling back to give your shot just the right amount of oomph is a really great feeling. Good thing, then, that ScrollView Games, who you may remember from last year’s colorful Toxic Hunters (Free), is basing their next game entirely on that awesome slingshotting feeling. The game is called Incidence, and it’s sort of like a minimalist game of mini-golf where you have a limited number of tries to launch your ball and bounce it into the goal at the end of each zig-zagging course. Watching the trailer for Incidence will explain it far better than I can.
As you can see, things get far trickier than simply launching your ball into the hole. Breakable barriers, warp portals, and nasty enemies are all trying to impede your progress. There are also a couple of fundamental rules to abide by. First off, you only get four shots per level, so push those thoughts of endlessly spamming shots until you make it in the hole right out of your mind. Second, your ball will only bounce six times with each shot, and with how complex some of the game’s 100+ levels can get you’re going to need to strategically use each limited bounce in order to be successful. Incidence seems like a challenging and fun puzzler that’ll be a perfect fit for the touchscreen, and it’ll be landing on iOS on February 23rd at a price of $1.99.
