This past June we wrote about an upcoming game called Golem Rage, which started life way back in 2012 as an asynchronous board game RPG and since morphed into a side-scrolling beat ’em up with a unique focus on rushing through levels as fast as possible. I don’t know what you’d call that, a racer brawler I guess? Anyway, the art style and the action both looked great and we were really looking forward to Golem Rage’s release in September. Well, that release didn’t quite go as planned, and due to certain circumstances the game was delayed and went quiet until late last week when the developers promised a new full gameplay trailer for release this week. That trailer just went live this morning and you can check it out right here.
While the development of Golem Rage has picked back up, there’s still no definitive release date just yet. The team is still designing the later stages of the game, of which there should be roughly 30-40, adding in music, doing lots of debugging, and finalizing gameplay features. So it sounds like they’re getting close to the finish line but they just aren’t quite there yet. This looks like a really interesting twist on the beat ’em up formula though, so I’ll have my eye out for more information on Golem Rage in the coming weeks, and in the meantime you can check out the game’s progress and discussion in our forums.
