Tonight as expected, Telltale shared an extended first look at The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – A New Frontier (they really are trying to make titles longer than a sentence) that introduces Javier, the new protagonist of the series. The trailer, revealed at The Game Awards tonight, shows Javier during the outbreak of the zombie plague and the effects it had on those closer to him. Then, it jumps forward in time to the moment when Javier meets a face very familiar to players of The Walking Dead series, Clementine. I won’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil anything, so watch it at your own peril.
Telltale is trying something new with A New Frontier; instead of the premiere being a single episode, Telltale will drop a two-parter instead. That way, we’ll get two our of give episodes on December 20th. Remember, if you haven’t played a season of The Walking Dead before, you can still jump into A New Frontier just fine; if you’ve played one or both seasons in the past, you’ll have multiple options for quickly configuring your backstory or importing save files from various platforms. Expect more details on this at some point soon.
