‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series’ Officially Announced, Coming 2017

Guardians of the GalaxyWell, we pretty much knew that Telltale’s partnership with Marvel was going to be about Guardians of the Galaxy, and now we have the official announcement and the first teaser. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series (I swear, these titles are just getting longer and longer) will be a five-part series with the first episode coming in 2017. Telltale’s Co-Founder and CEO, Kevin Bruner, believes that the blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians is a very satisfying space to explore, and I would have to agree there. The tone of the Guardians – if they follow the movies that is – reminds me a lot of the Borderlands series, and that was a fantastic Telltale game. Players will take on multiple roles (baby Groot will remember that) as they go through the craziness that is the Guardians universe.

Other than these rather general statements, we don’t have any more info on plot, but the teaser does show a possible catastrophe at the core of series. Maybe some kind of an event is going to split the Guardians up and you’ll try and get them back together again. I continue to enjoy Telltale’s series, but I also know how disappointed mobile gamers were with the performance of the Batman series. Hopefully Telltale will make amends by giving us a mobile version of Guardians that works flawlessly.
