Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I’m not sure if you’re all over your turkey comas yet, but I’ll tell you this: the App Store sure isn’t. This is a really short list this week, but I suppose some things can’t be helped. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper Social (Free), the watchlist in the TouchArcade App (Free), or by participating in the TouchArcade forums, but this weekly summary is here to fill in the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!
Oceanhorn â„¢, $6.99 Oceanhorn has had a number of updates over the years to help it remain one of the best-looking games you can load up on your iOS machine. The latest version follows that path, buffing things up for those who have iPhone 7 devices. There’s also a new Power Boost feature that you can flick on for smoother framerates, at a cost of the game chewing through your battery that much faster. A nice option for when you’re playing plugged in, at least.
Dungeons of Chaos REVAMPED ED., $5.99 A few cool things in this update to Dungeons of Chaos. First, there are now achievements in the game, and they actually sometimes unlock tangible benefits in the game. For example, there are two new birth feats, Blood Lust and Dragon Blood, that are unlocked through achievements. There’s also a new Summon Dragon skill, a trick that never fails to come in handy. Er, except when you’re at the public library, I guess.
Assassin's Creed Identity, $1.99 Ubisoft is celebrating the release of the Assassin’s Creed movie with some new goodies in its latest mobile take on the series. You can now collect more than 100 new pieces of gear from the Spanish Inquisition. There’s a special event running for four weeks where you can win Benedicto and Aguilar outfits, and there are new relic chests that give you a chance to win color variations on both those outfits and the Spanish Novice get-up.
Crusaders Quest, Free Crusaders Quest got a nice update with six new Soulbound weapons, six new skins, a new world boss named Manacar, some new high grade rings, and more. The tutorials have been improved again, there are some new items in the shop to buy, and the UI has seen various improvements. Naturally, there have been some balance adjustments and bug fixes, as well.
Neo Monsters, $0.99 I found the Neo Monsters shopping list in a Canadian Tire parking lot, and it looks a bit like this: some new monsters and skills, adjustments to existing monsters and skills, improvements to the user interface, and some bug and text fixes. Wait a second! This isn’t a shopping list! And this isn’t my baby! And these aren’t my underpants!.
Deus Ex GO, $4.99 Phew, here’s a big one. It’s the Puzzle Maker update for Deus Ex Go, allowing you to finally bust out your level design chops and build some masterpieces. Besides that, there’s a new undo feature, and I have to say, a lot of people asked for this. There’s a new profile page where you can earn experience points and level up to earn rewards, and a new daily challenge to give yourself a little test every day. All that, plus improvements and bug fixes. It’s not a big pack this week, but I think whether Jensen asked for it or not, I’m giving the game the coveted Update Mondays Most Spider-Mans of the Week award.
Super Phantom Cat - Be a jumping bro., $1.99 Super Phantom Cat, one of the cool catformers of this year, has added a ninth chapter called Discoworld. You get seven new levels to play through, and a whole new character called DJ Blast. I’m not sure if that’s his legal name, nickname, or what. I’m not going to ask him because he is a make-believe cat. It’s all up to you, friends!
Star Warsâ„¢: Galaxy of Heroes, Free The latest version of this game adds ships, and with them comes a whole bunch of new mechanics. Fleet Commanders bring new strategy to the game, and during ship battles, you can call in reinforcements to really flex your muscle. You can build your own Capital Ship, and if that ship happens to be a Star Destroyer, so be it. The Force Awakens version of the Falcon? you betcha. Ahsoka’s Jedi Starfighter? You know it’s in there. But where do you get the blueprints for all of these ships? At your local grocer, of course! No, wait. No, that’s totally wrong. You get them in the Fleet Arena. Wow, what a misprint that was.
Candy Crush Soda Saga, Free You know King doesn’t even believe people are playing the highest levels when they don’t even say how many new ones are added in the latest episode. I’m guess it’s 15 or 20, though, so if you’re still picking away at this one, you’ve got some work to do. Miss Tutu needs help, Spin & Spun want you to help them sell some raffle tickets or something, and there’s a ballet, maybe? Ehn, just match the candies.
Ramboat: Shooting Offline Game, Free Some people stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light. Some people need to have somebody, with the edge of surrender in sight. Ramboat has a new character who, forever and always, will be here. The Baywatcher joins the cast, and you know, I have no idea if the character has a connection to Baywatch or not, because I’m already replaying old episodes of Baywatch in my head. So…much…chest hair…
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
