Final Fantasy XV is coming November 29th, and today we learned that Square Enix will be working with developer MZ to bring Final Fantasy XV as an MMO to a phone near you in the future. If the name MZ doesn’t ring a bell, you might know it better as Machine Zone, the developer of the tiny little mobile games Mobile Strike and Game of War: Fire Age. In other words, heavy duty developers with plenty of success developing F2P mobile games. The Final Fantasy MMO will carry over the characters, storylines, and even the soundtrack from Final Fantasy XV, and then of course MZ will use its magic wand to turn it into a real-time MMO. Now, keep in mind that we don’t know much about how the game will actually play, so you can go ahead and imagine an amazing Final Fantasy MMO or a F2P shadow of a game.
We have no launch date yet of any sorts, and I have to say, I’m very curious to see what we’ll get from this collaboration. There’s no question that MZ knows how to make polished games, and Final Fantasy XV looks like good source material for MZ to work with. Now all we can do is wait and hope that we’ll get a great Final Fantasy XV MMO.
