Maroon 5 and ‘Pokemon GO’ Make for a Funny Music Video

TouchArcade Rating:

When you were running around trying to get those sweet Pokemon in Pokemon GO (Free)  this past summer, it was all fun and games, but did anyone think of the poor Pokemon? The latest Maroon 5 music video for Don’t Wanna Know offers a look into the hard life of being a Pokemon during the Pokemon GO craze, although admittedly a few months too late. The music video, which contains a few fun cameos, parodies the extreme actions of some of the game’s players, like trespassing without thinking or running straight into traffic. At the same time, you could see the whole music video as an allegory for the life of a celebrity being chased down by paparazzi, who go into extreme lengths to get that one picture on their phones.

While the music video is definitely late to the party, it’s again another sign of the game’s popularity and cultural impact. Imagine if the game had launched with all the features currently under development and had managed to keep the craze going (although it would have been a Herculean task to do so).
