It surely goes without saying for anyone within the iOS community, but any releases by Mediocre Games are far more than the everyday experiences that their modest name suggests. Unlike the title of their studio, Smash Hit (Free) was true to its label, and rocketed to the top of the charts when it was released in 2014. However, despite some previous crazes in the App Store, it achieved such lofty status through quality gameplay that we praised extensively in our review. Other games from the Swedish developers, including Sprinkle ($1.99) and Does Not Commute (Free), have also been of a similarly high standard, and have made every successive release by Mediocre one watch out for. Today, they have announced PinOut, their newest title that turns pinball into a continuous adventure across numerous neon tables, and looks absolutely stunning in the preview trailer:
While there aren’t too many details on PinOut, and only a tentative ‘Coming Soon’ release date stated, the little that Mediocre has shown looks extremely unique, and a lot of fun to play. The colorful, fluorescent neon graphical style, in combination with the techno soundtrack, perfectly matches the futuristic, Tron-esque style that the developers have gone for. Furthermore, the promise of numerous obstacles, power ups and mini games strongly indicates that PinOut should continue to keep up Mediocre’s excellent track record on iOS.
