Back in February, Fist of Awesome (Free) developer Nicoll Hunt’s studio I Fight Bears announced a collaborative project with developer tea&cheese called MAXIMUM CAR, a racing game with retro inspiration and huge explosions. Think of it as Horizon Chase (Free) meets Burnout. That initial teaser video and the developers’ previous works had me very excited for MAXIMUM CAR, and the fact that the title is always spelled out in capital letters let me know that they meant business. Well, the wait is almost over for MAXIMUM CAR as today they’ve announced a launch date of October 5th along with releasing this brand new trailer.
In the developer’s own words, MAXIMUM CAR is “a full-force, explosion-laden racing game, that will have you drifting and boosting your way to eternal badass glory in seconds. Exhaust smoke will come out of your nostrils and you’ll cry petrol tears of joy at the feeling of speed and power." If that description doesn’t get you excited it’s possible you aren’t actually alive and are reading this post from the afterlife. I Fight Bears and tea&cheese have worked together previously on the surprisingly awesome side-scrolling extreme water-sliding game 8-BIT WATERSLIDE (Free), and the publisher of that game, Ancient Games DS, will also be publishing MAXIMUM CAR. Seems like maybe they only publish games that are always capitalized? I’m fine with that.
MAXIMUM CAR will be free to download with opt-in ads and some IAP options, because the developers “gotta pay the bills somehow, and we’re running desperately low on champagne and oysters." It’ll launch simultaneously on both iOS and Android on Wednesday, October 5th, so mash down on that caps lock button and get hyped for MAXIMUM CAR early next month. Oh, and if you’re feeling super duper crafty and are too impatient to wait for the video game version of MAXIMUM CAR, you can act out the game yourself using these cool papercraft models of vehicles from the game. Check out the Lord GT model here and the Cop Car model here and have yourself a good old fashioned real-life car chase as you wait for October 5th to hit.
