Apple has made a change to the App Store coinciding with iOS 10, but possibly not just on iOS 10. Now, when you buy or get an app from the App Store, that app will disappear from the New Games We Love featured list. For example, see Animation Throwdown (Free) go from downloading to disappearing from the list entirely:
While this has just started as iOS 10 was released, some iOS 9 users I’ve talked to are seeing this behavior as well. This change might not seem super noteworthy, but it could be really helpful for discovery for developers who wind up deeper down the featured list. Being on that list is nice, but when people have to scroll to find you, it will impact downloads. So, when the big games at the front are taken off after people download them, that means a bit more exposure for the smaller games on the list.
Do note, developers, that if you have your own app installed, even with a developer build, it won’t show in the featured list. So make sure you log out or check from another device to be absolutely sure that you did or didn’t get featured…
