If you’re not familiar with Politaire (Free), I’m just going to pull this bus over and give you time to read our review. It’s a combination of poker and solitaire that seems crazy, but quickly turns into something in between “this is super clever" and “why didn’t someone think of this before?" Well, Pine Entertainment, the same developers behind Politaire are on the verge of releasing their next game this week, Puppet Bird. Check out the trailer:
At first glance, it’s real easy to be like, “Eh, whatever, another Flappy Bird game." However, had you done that with Politaire and been like, “Eh, whatever, another card game," you would have missed out on something really rad. I’m curious to see if Puppet Bird features the same magic. If you can’t tell from the video, the main twist the game has is its control method, where you control the bird flying as if it’s a puppet spinning a wheel to shorten and lengthen the rope it hangs on.
There’s a bunch of backstory on the game’s site surrounding coming up with different ways a game like this could be controlled, and I’m anxious to try it out myself to see if the Politaire magic can be found again. It’ll be available on the App Store this week, officially August 11th, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
