Magic Cube Games, who you probably know as the developers of the Infect Them All and Call of Snakes series, among many other games, have announced their latest project, a game called Infinity Duels. The concept of Infinity Duels is pretty simple. It takes the left/right tapping gameplay of something like Timberman ($0.99) and uses it as the basis for battling against gigantic monsters. As the name Infinity Duels alludes to, it also takes a page out of the Infinity Blade handbook by having the game cycle over and over in different “generations" as you take on larger and more ferocious enemies. Check out the trailer for Infinity Duels.
I actually love games like Timberman, and even before that Critter Panic! ($1.99), with the left/right gameplay that twists your brain’s coordination into knots, but I definitely feel like that genre could use something a little more fleshed out than simply chasing high scores. Infinity Duels hopefully does just that with its emphasis on battling monsters, some RPG-like progression mechanics, and a seemingly interesting storyline. We’ll find out soon enough as Infinity Duels is scheduled to launch on iOS and Android next week.
