‘Out There: Omega Edition’ is a Buck Again Alongside the Release of ‘Out There Chronicles’

TouchArcade Rating:

This week saw the release of Out There Chronicles ($1.99), a gamebook-style narrative prequel to the excellent space exploration roguelike Out There: Omega Edition ($4.99). Well, if you missed the original Out There during any of its previous sales, it’s once again on sale for a dollar, which is a criminally low price for such a masterpiece. The original Out There was incredible when it launched back in early 2014, and it’s only gotten better since then with the release of the Omega Edition update which revamped most of the artwork and added in a ton of cool new features. It was like Out There: The Definitive Edition. Developer Mi-Clos Studio wasn’t finished though, with the announcement of the Multiverse Update Series last fall, which has continued to add to and improve the game.

Besides being a hugely compelling survival game, Out There really did a fantastic job at creating a whole universe and mysterious storyline to tie all the action together. I can’t think of any other game where the dread of being lost in the vast emptiness of space has felt more real to me. That’s why the release of Out There Chronicles is so neat, as it’s more of an interactive story than a game but it fleshes out that universe and ties into the main game in some neat ways. Seriously, if any of this sounds interesting to you, you need to snap up Out There: Omega Edition for a dollar immediately, and if you get sucked into the world as many of us have, consider expanding your knowledge of it with the fantastic Out There Chronicles as well.
