If you’re looking for something to do this week, the incredibly entertaining charity speed run marathon Summer Games Done Quick is now live on Twitch. If you’ve never heard of this before, Games Done Quick is an incredibly amazing event that rounds up the best video game speed runners in the world who then blow through their favorite games live on stream. What elevates the whole thing to be truly fascinating is the commentary running along side the speed runs, where someone is always explaining both the history of particular runs as well as how the glitches and other tricks used in the run actually work. They also do no glitch runs of some games as well, which are similarly crazy to watch as just how good some of these people are at specific video games is mind blowing.
The full schedule is here, and if you’re interested in donating to the event you can do that here. All proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders, which is “an international medical humanitarian organization providing aid in nearly 70 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, exclusion from health care, natural disasters, or malnutrition."
Summer Games Done Quick runs through the 9th, so be sure to either check the schedule and set alarms for games you’re interested in, or just tune in randomly when you’re curious what’s going on.
