Version 1.19 of Super Evil Megacorp’s mobile MOBA Vainglory (Free) is now out for the masses and with it comes significant changes beyond a seasonal facelift. With a new hero, new skins and some hefty changes to hero roles, there’s a lot of interesting things to take a look at in this update.
The most significant change is the addition of Lyra, a roaming hero that has a heavy support slant with the ability to heal other heroes and create teleporters. While her abilities center around support activities, she can certainly cause some damage with her arcane missile basic attacks. As is the case with all new heroes, Lyra is available as an ICE only unlock for the first week, but afterwards should be available for Glory purchases.
In addition to Lyra, 1.19 also brings some significant item changes for roam characters. The gold aspect of Ironguard Contract is now always passively on, regardless of whether or not you have the contract. This means that Roaming characters don’t need to dedicate their first purchase to that item, although there are a few new ‘Contract’ items that allow heroes to customize their roam builds a lot more. In addition to those items there are a load of new boot items and a ton of other support items have been reworked.
In addition to the item changes, Summer season also brings new quests, a new ‘Sunlight’ mechanic for earning even more rewards, and a variety of new skins that are being unlocked throughout the season. Finally there’s the requisite hero changes with Skaarf getting the most significant changes.
Version 1.19 is out now for all players and a full version of the release notes can be found here. Meanwhile, don’t forget to check out our weekly Vainglory streams on Mobcrush for glimpses of the new hero.
