Turn-based tactical games have been definitely making a comeback on the App Store recently, with Warbits ($2.99) and Lost Frontier ($2.99) gaining plenty of acclaim. As good as those two games are, none of them has car combat, and that’s where the upcoming Auto Warriors plans to step in and remedy such errors in their ways. Instead of making a strategy games with soldiers, tanks, and so on, Auto Warriors has you customizing your car, turning it into the deadliest weapon around, and then taking it out for a spin with the sole purpose of eradicating everyone else in sight. The development team consists of people who’ve worked on games such as Burnout Revenge, Moto GP, Guild Wars 2, and more, so they should have the know-how to turn Auto Warriors into a fun game.
The game plays out over 150 campaign levels and also includes both PVP and Fleet PvP (I’m guessing that’s the equivalent of clans). As you can see from the trailer, the game looks quite fun. Keep in mind, though, that the trailer shows the real-time replay of a battle rather than the turn-based gameplay. The developers appear to be putting a lot of emphasis on the customization part of the game, and while I’m sure there will be plenty of ways to customize your vehicle (tens of thousands according to the developers), it remains to be seen how much impact those choices will have on the gameplay.
You can go over to our forums to chat to the developers and maybe give them your valuable 2 cents. The game is currently in soft launch in Australia, Canada, and a few other countries, so go check it out here if you want to by using our guide on how to download soft-launched games.
