If you like blowing up tiny spaceships in space and being able to see the action in 3D, you should keep an eye out for upcoming space RTS Galaxy Reavers, a very pretty space game that should launch this month. As is often the case with space RTS games, you get to build your fleet, customize your spaceships, and try to blast the enemy to smithereens. The developers have really done a great job in the visuals department; not only are the graphics top notch (especially considering this game isn’t coming out of a AAA developer), but you can also view the battles from as close or as far as you want and from any angle, always a great feature that makes for much more dynamic – and pretty – battles.
The game offers the standard fare of survival, rescue, and escort missions, but I have a hunch players will be more interested in the customization aspect of the game (at least I am). The game might not be going for originality in terms of setting and mechanics, but a well-made 3D space RTS is always fun to play. The developers are running a closed beta in our forums, so you can go here to join up if you want an early taste. Galaxy Reavers should be coming out soon, and hopefully it will play as good as it looks.
