During GDC last month I was able to sit down and try out an early version of Le Parker – Sous Chef Extraordinaire, an atmospheric platformer from developer Play Pretend that looked to hit all the exact right notes in terms of things I enjoy in a platforming game. It had a lighthearted story about a chef trying to retrieve his recipe for the world’s lightest desert (it’s so light it literally floats), a moody and sophisticated color palette, killer pixel art with lots of advanced graphical features, and most importantly of all a perfect “feel" for the movement and jumping through the game. It’s been one of my most anticipated games since! Well, Play Pretend is wrapping up work on Le Parker and recently they’ve posted two level playthrough videos giving us a glimpse at the game in action.
I just can’t watch those videos enough. Everything about Le Parker looks like it’s shaping up incredibly well, and hopefully it won’t be too much longer until it’s in my grubby little hands. Also, in addition to the iOS version, you can expect a tvOS version for the Apple TV as well as MFi controller support, for those who don’t want to mess with the (extremely good) virtual controls. I’m hoping that the next time I tell you about Le Parker – Sous Chef Extraordinaire it will be to give you a firm release date that’s in the not too distant future, so stay tuned for more or drop by the forum thread for some discussion with the developers and the community.
