If you’ve been checking out our Upcoming Games Forum thread at any time during the last couple of years, you’ve probably seen Happymagenta’s Joan Mad Run, or Project “Joan“, pop up on the front page quite often. The thread has been around since 2013, and while there were plenty of updates initially, we hadn’t really heard much during 2015. Well, good news since the developers popped in the thread to let everyone know that the game has been submitted to Apple for review, so barring any Apple shenanigans, we should get the game in a couple of weeks or thereabouts.
The game is a 2D platformer that has Jane running full speed across procedurally generated levels and encountering various enemies and brutal bosses. You get to use dozens of weapons – including the satanic pighead gun – and also use a weapon crafting workbench to make even crazier weapons. Add to that lots of secret rooms and levels, spectacular death effects, multi-platform co-op multiplayer, and a great art style, and you can understand why people in our forums are really looking forward to this one. The game will be free with a soft monetization scheme like the developers’ latest game, Tomb of the Mask (but improved apparently). Hopefully we’ll get the game soon because this one looks like a blast.
