Riverman Media made one of the best games of 2015 in The Executive ($2.99), and they’re working on a new game for release sometime in 2016. The title is a bit of a mouthful: MUL.MASH.TAB.BA.GAL.GAL. Yeah. The basic idea behind the game is that it’s kind of like Pong but you control both paddles at once to deflect glowing energy balls between you, trying to hit enemies that are in the middle. You have to prevent them from rising to the top by hitting them with the glowing balls you’re bouncing between your paddles.
Bopping enemies gets you a currency that can be used to buy powerups and unlock variant paddles between levels. This game is looking quite crazy, in both the way that “constant one-player Pong" looks tough to keep up with, and with the off-kilter Riverman Media style in play here. After all, they did make Pizza vs. Skeletons ($2.99) and a game about punching business werewolves in the face, there’s always something well-made but quirky about their games. MUL.MASH.TAB.BA.GAL.GAL. is set to hit sometime this year, and while I never hope I have to say the name of this game out loud, I’m looking forward to playing it.
