While there’s a ton of talented artists in the mobile gaming landscape, PagodaWest Games could make a great case for being the best at what they do. Major Magnet ($1.99) and Major Magnet Arcade (Free) are stupid gorgeous. Even Circle Frenzy (Free), a high score chaser, has much better production values than many games in the genre. PagodaWest is returning to that formula of “high score chaser but gorgeous" with SnapPals, a new game releasing on March 24th from the studio:
So, the game is very much about fast reactions, trying to time it so that you tap when the character is in frame, rapidly tapping to take as many photos of them as possible. And of course, if any miscreants get in the frame, don’t take the photo. Photobombs are not allowed here. The game is kinda like if Pokemon Snap met Fruit Ninja (Free), I suppose. It’s an entertaining enough game, and it looks absolutely gorgeous, as you’d expect from PagodaWest. And there is that Sonic influence there as the team started when they worked on the unofficial Sonic 2 HD. You’ll be able to play this next Thursday on March 24th.
