It’s been pretty light for releases the last few weeks, between seemingly everyone releasing something ahead of the iTunes freeze, then breaks for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and a slow first week of the year beyond Clash Royale. But the releases are going to start pouring in, it seems. A promising 2.5D Metroidvania called Momoka: An Interplanetary Adventure, which we’ve written about before, is releasing this week. That’s right, the promised release date of January 2016 was quite accurate, as the game launches on January 14th for $6.99. Seriously, I’m impressed: game developers are notoriously bad at estimating release dates in advance, and Felwig Games nailed it.
This platformer mixes in elements of games like Soosiz (Free) with running around planets, sometimes literally, and doing the exploring and item collecting that makes Metroidvanias so engrossing. This one looks rather promising, and you’ll be able to check it out at last this week.
