Path drawing logic puzzles are quite popular on mobile, just look at the awesome PathPix ($1.99) and its many spinoffs, or games like Flow Free (Free) or Number Link ($1.99), for proof of that. Now developer Genix Lab is taking the popular puzzle concept and adding a clever twist to it with their upcoming game City Lines. Unlike PathPix where you’ll solve the puzzle and the resulting squiggly colored lines end up forming a picture, in City Lines the squiggly colored lines of a solved puzzle magically turn into little cities, and those cities are based off of real locations so you’ll be able to recognize famous landmarks and the like. Check out the trailer.
While the concept of building up cities using solved puzzles is a really neat one, I don’t actually think there’s any sort of city management or anything in City Lines. It looks like it’s mostly just for show. That’s still pretty cool, but throwing in some simulation elements would take the idea to a whole new level. Either way City Lines looks really interesting and I’m looking forward to its release on iOS early next month. Be sure to check out the forum thread for some discussion, and if you’re on Android you can actually grab City Lines from the Google Play Store right now.
