‘Asphalt 8: Airborne’ Gets Huge Update with Area 51, Exclusive Lamborghini, and Holiday Courses

TouchArcade Rating:

Gameloft didn’t just update their MOBA Heroes of Order and Chaos (Free) on the last big release window before the iTunes freeze, no. One of their biggest titles has also gotten a big update: Asphalt 8: Airborne (Free). You may think this is a holiday-themed update with the timing, and you’re not wrong, as the game now boasts three new wintry tracks to race through, but there’s far more than just that. What says season’s greetings more than a new Area 51 location?

Want to race in a car that’s been in no other video game before? The Laborghini Egoista can be driven in Asphalt 8, and just Asphalt 8. To go along with it, the Lamborghini Asterion, Renault Sport R.S. 01, Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), and 11 more cars are in the game, though some will be released in the coming weeks. A new Tag Racing mode, where you swap between three different cars in a single race is here, too. Plus, if you have a 3D Touch device, the controls have been optimized to use those features. The update is available now, and Gameloft is calling it the biggest update since launch, so if you haven’t played Asphalt 8 in a while, now’s as good a time as any.
