After Some Technical Issues, This Week’s ‘Hearthstone’ Tavern Brawl Appears to be Live Once More

TouchArcade Rating:

Well, whatever technical issues plagued this week’s Tavern Brawl seem to have been fixed, hopefully. In case you haven’t noticed, this week’s Hearthstone (Free) Tavern Brawl, Decks Assemble, went online briefly and then was pulled due to technical issues. Blizzard came out with a post addressing this week’s issues and promising to fix them soon. The Brawl is live now, at least for me, so hopefully we are back to regular programming. This week’s Brawl has you starting with a small deck and recruiting as you go. You first pick the class you’d like to play, and then at the start of your turn you choose a card through a process that looks a lot like the Discover mechanic. When you play a card, you shuffle a copy of it into your deck, and then when your turn ends, your hand is destroyed and 4 cards are drawn from your deck. Confused? Not surprised because most people talking about this Brawl were initially pretty confused by the way it works.

So, you start with a premade deck, and your opening hand consists of 3 or 4 cards that include the Coin, Armor Plating, Whirling Blades, or Chicken (you might have duplicates).Once you pick a card at the start of the turn, you play one or more cards that are in turn added to your deck. Every time you tap End Turn, your hand is shuffled back into the deck and you get 4 new cards that might include the cards you’ve just played. While the Brawl has interesting strategies, prepare for matches to go on for quite some time because on every single turn, you have to pick one of three cards, which makes for some waiting. As you can guess, RNG matters a lot in this one, but so does strategy because each turn you have to pick the appropriate card. Not a bad one, even if a bit on the long side.
