The ‘Telltale Games: Story Mode’ Documentary is Now Available on YouTube

TouchArcade Rating:

Telltale_Games_logoYesterday we got the news that the Magnum Opus: Games team at Complex had put together a short documentary on the history of Telltale Games, and today that documentary is now available for your viewing pleasure. Telltale has made quite a mark in this industry.

Founded in 2004 by ex-LucasArts employees, they were among the first companies to really bet big on digital distribution. They also bet big on narrative-driven adventure games, which were massive in the heyday of LucasArts in the ’90s but were out of fashion by this point in time. They also believed strongly in episodic storytelling as a way to develop characters and retain players’ interest over time. These were all sketchy prospects to bank your future on, but as we know now and as is displayed wonderfully in the documentary below, things ended up working out quite well for Telltale and they really helped shape the last decade of the video game industry.

It’s fascinating to see how Telltale has grown and evolved with each new game they’ve made over the course of the last decade. If you enjoyed this look into Telltale Games there are several other Magnum Opus Games productions, including their debut documentary The Hotline Miami Story which takes a look into the making of the 2012 hit. I really look forward to even more of these behind the scenes peeks at how games are made, and hope Magnum Opus Games continues doing what they do.
