Holy moly! Here’s a fantastic surprise release. Well, it’s not exactly a surprise because Oddworld Inhabitants teased and then confirmed back in June that this was coming, but we didn’t know WHEN it was coming. Well, I guess if you follow their Twitter you knew. But it was still a surprise to me, so get off my back! The classic 3D platformer and original Xbox launch title Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee ($2.99) is now available on iOS, and will be coming to Android later this month. Here’s a quick look at Munch’s Oddysee in action.

Now, I’m going to be “that guy" and admit that I’ve never played Munch’s Oddysee before. In fact I had never played any Oddworld game until Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath ($2.99) arrived on mobile just shy of a year ago. I enjoyed that game immensely, not just for its fantastic 3rd-person/1st-person hybrid action but because of the insanely clever and, well, odd characters and universe the story takes place in. I can see why Oddworld has such a cult following, and I’m very excited to dive in once again with Munch’s Oddysee.

I’m sure there’s plenty of others like me who are being introduced to this wonderful series thanks to their mobile ports, and I’m sure there’s plenty of die-hard fans who are ecstatic to be able to carry their favorite classics around in their pockets.
