‘Vainglory’ 1.10 Expands Guild Perks, Fixes Bugs, Adds a Celeste Skin

TouchArcade Rating:

If you’ve been following Vainglory’s (Free) weekly streams, you’ve probably heard already about some of the changes previewed in version 1.10. For the rest of us, the update has finally hit the App Store and with it comes some welcome bug fixes as well as some great changes to the guild system.

Guilds take the center stage in this update with some added functionality and desired customizability options. First off, guild owners now have the option of editing the guild type and guild motto in-game. While these are small changes, I know folks have been clamoring for these features since Guilds launched so I’m glad to see them implemented. The Guild system itself has also been significantly expanded upon with new rewards for leveling up your guild. New end-of-season rewards, along with new guild crests have been added, which go a long way towards encouraging guild mates to team up and work towards some rewards. Even cooler, guild leveling is “significantly easier” than previous versions, which should also help newer guilds reach those rewards even faster.

One of the more interesting guild features added is ‘Guild Heat.’ Essentially, this function tracks guild member activity and rewards bonus guild Fame XP depending on how many guild members have played a match in a certain time period. For example, if 60% of the members play a guild match in the last 48 hours, members gain an additional 10% Fame XP bonus per match. If 85% of members play, that gets upped to 25%. Again, it’s a cool way to encourage added guild interaction.

As is typically the case with each update, there are also a bevy of hero balance changes that launched with Version 1.10. To summarize some of the changes, Petal gets some significant changes again to try and improve her substantial retooling from last version (Spontaneous Combustion healing is crazy), Taka gets a nerf to damage, Glaive gets a minor nerf to lifesteal, Celeste gets some significantly damage reductions to two abilities, while Skaarf got an interesting delay nerf to Goop. Other interesting changes include a ten second player lock at the start of matches so players can take some time in the shop instead of having to rush (players also get a speed boost once they leave the safe zone). The recommended items feature of the shop also gets an overhaul and suggests Tier 1 and Tier 2 items.

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the awesome Star Queen Celeste Tier I skin that also launches with Version 1.10. As a Celeste main, I’ve been waiting a long time for this skin, so I’ll be plucking down some ICE to pick it up.

As usual, you can check out the full release notes for Version 1.10 here. In addition, Super Evil Megacorp also has a sneak preview of their next hero which should hopefully be coming out soon. Finally, don’t forget to join the Touch Arcade guild if you’re looking for some folks to play with!
