The Men Who Wear Many Hats, developers of zombie-filled Oregon Trail parody game Organ Trail: Director’s Cut ($2.99), have just released a massive new expansion pack for their game just in time for Halloween. The new “Final Cut" expansion pack will run you $2.99 and essentially doubles the content in the game. It features brand new cities and the ability to choose your route as you go, as well as double the number of story encounters and road events. There are now 10 playable characters (6 unlockable) and 5 new unlockable cars in addition to the stock station wagon.
Besides those major new additions, the Final Cut expansion also includes new zombie types, new boss fights, a new Radiation mechanic, new Hit and Run driving job, new Graveyard retrieval mission and new secret endings. If you choose not to buy the Final Cut expansion, the core game of Organ Trail has also received some love. There’s a bunch of new art, a new healing mini-game, a city name generator for Endless mode, a fishing mini-game, and lots of various fixes and tweaks to make an overall better game. Check out this rad (and slightly NSFW) live-action trailer made to celebrate the expansion, which also includes in-game footage in the second half of all the new stuff.
Just as a heads up, The Hats have stated on Twitter that the latest iOS and Android builds of Organ Trail have “tons of bugs" but that they’re working on them. For what it’s worth, I’ve spent a good chunk of the afternoon playing the updated Organ Trail and haven’t noticed any issues, but it’s something to be aware of. Any potential issues aside, Organ Trail was one of my favorite little adventure games, and this latest expansion pack adds so, SO much to the game that I’m excited to play it all over again.
