As we learned this past June, the developers of stunning table tennis simulator Table Tennis Touch (Free) have been hard at work on a multiplayer update for the game, and today that update has gone live in the App Store. And let me say that this update is quite a whopper, adding in a ton of new stuff besides the expected multiplayer mode.
Multiplayer includes both local over Wi-Fi and online over Game Center, and is pretty self-explanatory. However, there’s a new metric called Prestige which you can earn through playing multiplayer which will be used for placement on a brand new leaderboard as well as for unlocking the brand new skins for your paddle. Your “P" score is also displayed on the new Player card, which also displays your Level, your Rating, your Career Reputation and your little animated Kuto companion who cheers you on.
There’s a new mutliplayer mini-game called Glass Table which is the first of four planned multiplayer mini-games and is a competitive two-player version of the Half Table game. You also have the ability to set up all the parameters of a multiplayer game like location, number of games, and bat type. Of course players who you’re matched with will always have the same bats so as to keep things fair. Finally, in local Wi-Fi multiplayer, you can play cross-platform with Android players. Check out the multiplayer in action as two of the developers go head-to-head.
In addition to all the multiplayer-centric stuff, Table Tennis Touch has also received a new arena called Bounce, which is an actual real-life table tennis arena in London. The game has also received a revamped tutorial, improved graphics, a cleaner UI, “more Wiff Waff" and general optimizations and fixes. It really is one of the finest table tennis games in the App Store, if not THE finest, so check out the new version 2.0 update to Table Tennis Touch and jump online for some competition.
