If you haven’t played Prettygreat’s Land Sliders (Free) yet, you are missing out on one of the most entertaining games to have hit the App Store recently. The game’s mechanic is very clever and its production values are up there with the best of the App Store. No wonder our own Mr. Dotson gave it 5 stars in his review. The game is all about unlocking new characters, so the developers have decided to do a special Halloween event that centers around new characters which cleverly work with the game’s mechanic and overall feel. This is one of those Halloween updates that feels well-thought out and well-implemented rather than a throw-away.

As you can see from the video above, the new characters are among others a Zombie, Sarcophagus, Ms. Calavera (to celebrate Dia de los Muertos), and special guests Wren and Reynold from Double Fine’s Costume Quest 2. In addition to adding the characters, Prettygreat has added new world designs that fit the Halloween theme, with bats flying around, lightning burning trees, spiders running everywhere, and more. As the developers say in the video, they really tried to change the game enough so that it feels different for Halloween, and I think they’ve achieved it. So, if you want to get into the spirit of Halloween while playing a very entertaining game, go enjoy the free Land Sliders update now.
