Simogo Released ‘SPL-T’, a Simple-Looking Puzzle Game, But Is It Just That?

TouchArcade Rating:

The guys over at Simogo have earned a special place in most iOS gamers’ hearts because they have delivered some amazing games such as Year Walk and the fantastic Device 6. Recently, though, they’ve shifted to games that straddle the divide between game and narrative and have even gone full-narrative recently with the release of a collection of stories called Year Walk Bedtime Stories for Awful Children. As a literature fanatic, I can’t complain about this latest release (and I love the title too), but most gamers have been waiting to see when Simogo would shift back to producing games. Well, the wait is over becase Simogo has just released a new puzzle game called SPL-T ($2.99). However, it wouldn’t be Simogo if the game was just a straightforward game, would it?

As you can guess from the name, the game is all about splitting the screen into smaller and smaller boxes, which will occasionally have numbers in them. Now, I haven’t played the game so I have no idea what the goal is, but what I can tell you is that it looks like a very retro game. People in our forums have been wondering about this game and trying to figure out if there’s more to SPL-T than what the eye first sees. After all, the game is 69 MB The game’s description points that way too: “We know. It doesn’t look like much. But we promise that it’s a very good puzzle game. Like, really good." Any ideas what Simogo is up to with this one? Is this a Godus-like contraption, or is it just a really good puzzle game? I’m sure we’ll know soon.
