Crescent Moon’s The Deer God has been kicking around since at least early last year, and at long last it’s finally locked and loaded for an iOS release next month, on September 3rd to be exact. In The Deer God you play as a hunter who has died and been reincarnated as a deer (irony!), and as you cruise through a procedurally generated world you’ll fight off enemies, solve puzzles, and generally see what life is like living as a deer. It launched in in an alpha state on Android last November, and officially launched on Steam this past February. In fact, here’s the Steam launch trailer.
So far The Deer God has gotten kind of a mixed response on Steam, with some people really clicking with the game and some just plain not liking it. For what it’s worth, I went hands-on with the mobile version of the game back at GDC in March, and I really, really enjoyed what I saw then. I absolutely love the retro-inspired graphics, the fantastic lighting effects, and the really cool parallax scrolling. I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on the final version of The Deer God when it launches on iOS on September 3rd.
