Many of the large, AAA-level publishers have focused on releasing free-to-play games on iOS, but some are experimenting with premium releases that are above average for mobile games. Square Enix Montreal’s putting out $4.99 games, 2K has put out $7.99 and above games, and now Sega’s trying a $7.99 premium release with Heroki, a platformer developed by Picomy over the last 5 years, and finally coming to iOS this year. Check out the debut trailer in 60 FPS:
Heroki has you controlling a propeller-headed hero that can fly around and toss objects in a number of gorgeous environments. The controls apparently just use swipe and drag gestures throughout the world to play it, with nary a virtual pad to be seen. It’ll be interesting to see how this does as a premium release, but hopefully if it’s good – and it certainly seems to have some high-caliber production values to it – it’ll do well and show that premium releases have a new lease of life on iOS.
