Square Enix has announced a new mobile game in the Kingdom Hearts series called Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key. Based on a browser game in Japan, this features plenty of Disney characters from across their many franchises, along with the fantastical stories of the Kingdom Hearts games, and plenty of Keyblade action, in a top-down RPG. The visuals are a flat 2D style, and plenty of characters from both Disney and Square Enix will both wind up in battle across the game’s story.
This one is in development for both iOS and Android right now. The story of Unchained Key will link in to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3, which will make fans excited – plenty of people at the press conference were loudly cheering thinking the game was Kingdom Hearts 3, before some of the enthusiasm died down upon finding out it wasn’t quite what they expected. Whoops! Still, the game’s looking really spiffy, this could prove to be interesting.
