If you love strategy games on the iPad, do I have a deal for you. Ultimate General: Gettysburg ($3.99), the real time strategy game by Game Labs, is now $3.99, down from $7.99. The game is in soft-launch currently, but the U.S. is one of the soft-launch territories, so many of you should be able to get it. If you haven’t heard of the game, which is a crime if you enjoy wargames even a bit, Ultimate General was originally developed for the PC and later ported to the iPad.
In the game, you can play as either side of the Civil War during the defining battle of Gettysburg in a series of 10 missions for each side and at two difficulty levels. Even though the iPad version lacks the multiplayer mode and the dynamic campaign from the PC version, the game is still a joy to play and is probably one of the prettiest wargames on the tablet right now (I often use this game to demonstrate my iPad’s capabilities to non-gamers).
So, if you are into wargames, you should definitely get this game even if nineteenth-century warfare isn’t really your thing.
