I don’t know what’s in the water this week with a bunch of surprise updates for games that haven’t been updated in a while, but I am all in favor of this continuing to happen. The latest game to get a surprise update? Orbital ($4.99), the rad puzzler from BitForge. It hasn’t seen an update in almost four years, but this great puzzler from 2009 is all set up for modern devices. It’s got support for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, adds in native widescreen support, and the app has even gone universal now. The HD version is still around, but it’s just worth picking up the original version now.

I was playing some of Orbital once I found out it was updated, and this is another game that still holds up after all these years. The game still looks great, especially in an era of minimalist visuals. There’s plnety of splashy visual effects that still look great on modern devices. And the gameplay stands out in a world of match-3 bubble shooters. This is another game I really recommend checking out if you missed it at some point.
