Check Out Hands-On Video of ‘Hearthstone’ for iPhone

TouchArcade Rating:

Hearthstone (Free) just came out this afternoon for iPhone, getting updated as a universal app. If you haven’t had a chance to play it on your iPhone – say you’re at work, on slow wi-fi, or the universal version still isn’t showing up for you – then I’ve helpfully recorded some gameplay footage showing off how the interface works on the iPhone 6 Plus. Check out the video below, and forgive the basicness. I’m a Hearthstone casual/noob.

Thankfully, if you too lack the skills to pay the Hearthstone bills, or are just getting into the game for the first time, you can check out our beginner’s guide. For impressions from a veteran, read Eric Ford’s thoughts on the iPhone version. And remember, even if you don’t plan on playing much on the iPhone, you should download and play a match anyway, as you get a free card pack for playing on the iPhone. Have at it, folks!

I was wondering what would happen if I get a phone call while playing, as getting one would disconnect 3G even if I was fast to cancel it,it well take seconds to recover.

I took about a 3 min phone call and went right back into the game it just took a second to load the turn I missed. But didn't kick me offline or anything.

you can probably talk via bluetooth and have the game in the foreground. Unless your network specifically doesn't allow data+ voice (I know my does)

I noticed you can't see where your opponent is inspecting in this version like you can in others. That added a subtle layer to the game, like playing poker in person. Still, glad to finally see Hearthstone playable on iPhone.

Is there a way to get the expansions without paying?

I believe you can get the single player content. I think it's about 700 gold per wing of each "raid"

Yea 700 gold for one wing though so I'll just wait till I get the extra cash and get the whole dlc

If you're new, you don't want to indulge into these new single player battles just yet. You want to make sure you build up your card base a bit by spending gold on packs. Just make sure to consistently play the game!

I purchased blackrock and I'm new and I'm beasting through the bosses no problem on normal so it's not too difficult especially if you build the right deck
